These days a lot of that work involves AI — orchestrating LLMs into real products, building MCP servers, and wiring up agentic workflows. But my favorite kind of engineering is the kind nobody assigns me: the browser extension I built because my own tabs were a mess, the invoicing tool I made because I got tired of ugly PDFs.
